The Financial Capability Coaching Course is for those wanting to learn the skills and knowledge required to serve their community as an effective financial coach.

This is module six.

Aim of Module

The focus of this module is understanding the benefits and entitlements managed by Work and Income and the Inland Revenue departments, and the impacts of this on our clients.

To enable you as a  financial coach to assist your clients, you need to know what options exist to help them.  Many clients are also clients of Work and Income NZ and IRD and often they need support to understand  the products and services provided by these organisations. This module introduces and explains these options.

This module also expands on the budget worksheet and the debt schedule of the case study ‘Client Teal’ introduced in the previous module, to identify solutions.

What will you learn?

At the completion of this module you will understand:

  • the range of benefits, allowances and services available to clients from WINZ
  • the range of entitlements and services available to clients from IRD; and
  • how and where to access further information when it is needed.

Throughout this course you will be able to download some resources. These were current at September 2021.

Module Timeframe

It is expected that this module will take three to five hours to complete depending on your individual pace and which topics you find challenging.
