Adjust line spacing

“Line spacing” refers to the distance between lines of text. The default line spacing in Word is slightly more than 1.08 points, which is just slightly bigger than single-spaced. It’s common to alter the line spacing in dense and difficult-to-read documents, or simply when a document looks better with more spacing.

Here’s how to adjust the line spacing:

  1. Select the text you want to adjust. For practice, select at least one paragraph. (It’s easier to see the changes on a paragraph.)
  2. Click on “Line and Paragraph Spacing” and select a suitable option.

Remember you can always undo a change using Ctrl and Z.
